Auch wenn die Band neu ist, lassen die Namen doch aufhorchen:
Michi Müller (ex Merricks), Christoph Strohmeyer (Royal Flares), Carsten Knappe (ex Chocolate Factory) und Harry Vogel (ex Heartbeats) waren lange in Bands aktiv, die in der internationalen 6Ts –Szene heiß geliebt sind und deren Platten inzwischen Kult-Status haben.
Aber Smart Patrol sind mitnichten eine weitere sixties-beeinflusste Band!
Die 4 Münchner haben sich zusammengetan, um das klassische Songwriting der 60er Jahre mit dem Sound, der Power und der Haltung der musikalischen Revolution von 1976-78 zu verbinden, und heraus kamen auf der LP „Overage Underachievers“ 12 Powerpop-Juwelen, die ihresgleichen suchen.
Und bevor jetzt wieder jemand mit dem Begriff „retro“ um sich wirft: mit Punk und Powerpop haben die vier Jungs in den frühen 80ern angefangen! Insofern sind sie also einfach zu ihren Wurzeln zurückgekehrt, oder wie sie in ihrer Hommage an das Münchner „Atomic Café“ singen: „It’s time to get back to basics“!
Und weil aller guten Dinge manchmal nicht drei, sondern fünf sind, stieß im Lockdown noch ein weiteres Mitglied zur Band:
Ramona Ramone übernahm im Herbst 2021 den Lead-Gesang, so dass das Publikum bei den nächsten Auftritten im Sommer 2023 harten Beat, explosive Gitarrenriffs, ausgefeilte Gesangsharmonien und ein Energiebündel im Zentrum der Bühne erwarten darf!
The band may be pretty new, but the names do ring a bell:

However, Smart Patrol are far from being just another sixties-influenced band!
The four guys from Munich joined forces to fuse classic songwriting of the sixties with the sound, power and attitude characteristic of the music revolution of 1976-1978 and this resulted in 12 one-of-a kind powerpop gems on their new LP „Overage Underachievers“.
But don’t mistake Smart Patrol3 o be retro: the four guys all started out in punk-influenced bands, so in the end they’ve only gone back to their roots, or as they sing in their tribute to Munich’s Atomic Café: „It’s time to get back to basics“
And as sometimes all good things don’t come in threes but in fives, a new member joined the band during the lockdown: Ramona Ramone has taken over the lead vocals in the autumn of 2021. So the audience can expect tough beats, explosive guitar riffs, sophisticated vocal harmonies and a real bundle of energy when the band hits the stages again in summer 2023!
